uLocate Communications is an applied technology firm developing location based services that expand and extend the emerging capability of mobile carriers and cell phones to determine a users location. We develop solutions in support of enterprise clients in need of adding a spatial dimension to market data as well as secure web-based solutions for small businesses and consumers.

Ryan Moore

Principal, GrandBanks Capital

Ryan is a Principal at GrandBanks Capital where he focuses on investing in software and services companies. Ryan serves on the board of Glasshouse Technologies and is also actively involved with GrandBanks Capital's investments in Coradiant and Enpocket. Prior to joining GrandBanks Capital, Ryan was with SOFTBANK Capital Partners, a strategic late-stage investment fund. Prior to joining SOFTBANK Capital Partners, Ryan was with the High Technology Investment Banking Group at Robertson Stephens in San Francisco, California. While at Robertson, Ryan advised a variety of technology companies on strategic and financial transactions including E*Trade Group, eBay and Internet Security Systems. Ryan holds an A.B. in economics from Princeton University.

Chris Greendale

General Partner, Kodiak Venture Partners

Chris brings over 25 years of software and technology services experience in sales, marketing and executive management to Kodiak.

Prior to joining Kodiak, from 1998 to 2003, Chris was a high tech seed investor, including roles as Managing Director at Internet Capital Group and a Venture Partner at Grandbanks Capital. He invested in and served as a board member for numerous technology companies, including Surgency; Context Integration (sold to eFORCE); Breakaway Solutions; Clarify (sold to Nortel Networks); Rubric (acquired by Broadbase); ServiceSoft Technologies (acquired by Kana); and MediaBridge Technologies. Chris was also an early, pre-IPO investor in Siebel Systems.

In 1991 Chris co-founded and ran sales and marketing for Cambridge Technology Partners. Prior to CTP, he was Vice President of Marketing for Oracle Corp., and before that, Vice President of Marketing at Ingres. Boards: CXO Systems, Glasshouse Technologies, Tumbleweed Communications Corp, and uLocate. Education: B.A. and M.B.A. from Southern Illinois University.

Walter Doyle

President & CEO

With 15 years in the online and emerging technology space, Walt brings significant industry knowledge and expertise to his position as Chief Executive Officer of uLocate. Most recently, Walt honed his leadership skills and expertise with leading LBS and wireless companies. Prior to uLocate, Doyle was vice president of sales and business development at MapQuest, Inc. an AOL subsidiary. There he was responsible for building revenue across the wireless, print, online, and software businesses. During his tenure, MapQuest rebuilt its core software business, launched four consumer wireless products, launched a suite of MapQuest branded print products, and more than doubled its revenues. Doyle is a veteran of the online and emerging technologies space.

Prior to his position at MapQuest, he served as vice president of Net2Phone. There he led strategic initiatives such as the integration of VoIP technology on Yahoo! and MSN instant messaging platforms, and investments in companies such as SpeechWorks and Webex. Before Net2Phone, Doyle was with ZDNet through its acquisition of SpotMedia Communications, the publisher of GameSpot.com. Doyle's career began at Dow Jones, Inc. where for five years he served as international sales and marketing manager directing the expansion of dial-up, broadband and web based products into Asian, European, and Latin American markets.

Alan Phillips

uLocate Co-Founder and Vice President of Business Development

Alan is a proven entrepreneur with over twenty years in applied technology. Most recently, Phillips was Executive in Residence at GrandBanks Capital, a Softbank Affiliate. His previous experience includes 6 years at ZDNet as EVP/CIO where he managed technology and infrastructure and was instrumental in the sale of ZDNet to CNet. After the acquisition, he served as President of CNET's Market Intelligence division. Prior to joining ZDNet, Alan built Instant Information, one of the nation's largest service bureaus for the integration of voice and fax whose clients included Dow Jones & Company, Business Week, Federal Express, Consumer Reports, and Lawyers Weekly. Instant Information, Inc. was sold in 1995. He serves on several Boards and is an advisor to numerous early-stage ventures. Phillips received a BA from Vassar College in Quantitative Economics.

Frank Schroth

uLocate Co-Founder and Vice President

Frank is an innovative operations executive with a proven track record of taking initiatives from start up through maturity. As Vice President and General Manager of eLogic, the web publishing subsidiary of Reed Business Information, he managed the re-building of RBI's 30+ web sites, established their webcasting service, and secured new external business. Previous to RBI, Schroth held numerous executive positions at ZDNet. From 1992 - 2000, he made critical contributions to building ZD's online businesses, acquiring and integrating technologies and developing inventive methods for improving content management and delivery. Prior to ZD, Frank was a co-founder of Technology Training Associates, an educational software and training development firm. He directed product development in support of clients that included IBM, Lotus Development Corp., Addison-Wesley Publishing, Houghton Mifflin, and John Wiley & Sons. Schroth received a BA from Fairfield University and a MA from Lesley College.

Geoff Palmer

uLocate Co-Founder and Vice President

Geoff is a serial entrepreneur with twenty years experience in operations management, marketing, technology product design, and development in emerging companies, mid-sized businesses and large corporate environments. Most recently Geoff was President of InfoCater, one of the leading Tablet Computer consultants and resellers. Previously, Geoff co-founded and was the CEO of Nurse.Com, which was sold to Tenet HealthCare in 2002. Palmer was Vice President of Marketing at Simplex Time Recorder Company from 1997 to 2000 following the sale of Information Marketing Businesses, a company he co-founded in 1983, to Simplex in 1997. Palmer received a BSBA from Boston University with a major in Management Information Systems.
